Take A Minute Blog - Week seventeen, 6 February

I am hauling myself up through the dark tunnel of illness, sleep deprivation and lack of sunlight this week. I feel like a mole, snuffling and shuffling along in the murk.  Everything was wrong – especially my burnt offerings in cookery club.  There was a brief spell of lunchtime sun one day and I rushed out into the garden for half an hour and poked things with sticks until a rat appeared.  Still, I keep reminding myself that this rubbish time will pass and that soon, it will be spring, me and my children will be well (surely?) and holidays are only two weeks away.

Juicer

In keeping with the general wrongness of the week, I did a daft thing. I made a juice with apples, oranges, pears and carrots and then for some strange reason I juiced them with a couple of radishes. The result – unpleasant and somewhat sour juice with a nasty scum.

Swimming

I was very proud of George this week – he threw himself into his lessons – literally. He wore his goggles and even managed to retrieve a seal weight from the bottom of the pool for the first time.  James was in the big pool and really putting his face under water for a change. His technique has really improved.

Badminton

As far as I know it was good – my low-level virus that’s been pounding away for a few weeks kept me away from the court but I am hoping to be there tomorrow.
